A quarter turn actuator is an actuator that transmits torque to a valve in less than a full turn (usually a 90° rotation). Festo’s quarter turn actuators are specifically tailored to the requirements of the process industry in terms of power, corrosion resistance and standardized interfaces. They comply with the ISO 5211 standard, which defines the interface between actuator and valve, and with NAMUR VDI / VDE 3845 for direct mounting of limit switch boxes, positioners and pilot valves. The robust, corrosion-resistant design of the actuators makes them ideal for use in harsh and explosive environments in process automation. Quarter turn actuators are suitable for open/close and control applications for the automation of butterfly valves, globe valves and shut-off valves. They are also suitable for water/wastewater, beverage, pharmaceutical and general process automation.
