Servo-pneumatic positioning systems consist of the following components: a cylinder with displacement encoder, proportional directional control valve and position controller. Servo-pneumatic positioning systems are used to move a pneumatic cylinder to a preset target position in a position-controlled manner or to generate a preset target force in a force-controlled manner. With servo-pneumatic systems, it becomes possible to control pneumatic cylinders like electric cylinders.
